Ofsted: Good

In July 2016 the government education inspectors returned to North West Community Sevices Training to perform a short inspection, as a follow up from the previous full inspection dated June 2013 when they graded our services as good under the then brand new common inspection framework. They judged that we continue to be a good provider of Apprenticeships and Traineeships, maintaining the strengths from the previous inspection and have added to those strengths by rectifying the areas for improvement.

Key Findings

    • Learners are making good progress relative to their starting points.
    • Learners significantly develop their confidence, self-esteem and employability skills, becoming valued employees and acquiring increased workplace responsibilities.
    • High quality support is provided which helps learners to achieve. Tutors / Assessors have a passion to help them achieve their goals.
    • Managers have a clear vision focused on improving the lives of people in the most disadvantaged communities.
    • Learners and employers comment very favourably on the benefits of training.

Levy Calculations

Example 1: an employer who would pay the levy

An employer with an annual pay bill of £5,000,000:

levy sum: 0.5% x £5,000,000 = £25,000

subtracting levy allowance: £25,000 – £15,000 = £10,000 annual levy payment

Example 2: an employer who would not have to pay the levy

An employer with an annual pay bill of £2,000,000:

levy sum: 0.5% x £2,000,000 = £10,000

subtracting levy allowance: £10,000 – £15,000 = £0 annual levy payment
